I am not a linguist - far from it. And I haven’t yet had the time to research the information in this reel that I am about to share with you.

BUT - I’m not surprised about what she’s speaking on…

There are SO many things even beyond words that are twisted from that holy book, you know the one referred to as the Bible.

I’m not knocking you if the book contains the core of your belief system. I just have a different opinion. We’re all entitled to our own.

Listen for yourself and think about it. That’s all that is required. It’s not up for debate, but if the information is inaccurate, I would love to know. Along with the proper proof of the inaccuracies of course…

What is Asé ?

I Aṣé (pronounced “ah-SHEH”) is a deeply powerful and foundational concept in Yoruba spirituality and philosophy. It refers to the divine life force, spiritual energy, or power to make things happen and bring about change.

Core Meanings of Aṣé:
1. Creative Power:
Aṣé is the force that Olódùmarè (the Supreme Creator) used to bring the universe into existence. Everything that exists—Orisha, humans, nature, words—carries a portion of this power.
2. Authority & Command:
When someone speaks or prays with Aṣé, they are invoking divine authority. It’s the reason prayers, chants, or rituals are said to “have power.”
3. Spiritual Affirmation:
Much like “Amen” in Christianity, Aṣé is also used at the end of prayers, chants, or blessings to affirm and seal what has been said.
Example:
• May you receive peace, abundance, and protection — Aṣé.
4. Manifestation & Action:
Aṣé is not just about potential—it’s about making things happen. When someone has a strong Aṣé, it means they have the power to influence their reality and others around them spiritually or energetically.
5. Vital Energy Within All Things:
Every living thing—humans, animals, plants, rivers—holds Aṣé. In this sense, it’s similar to concepts like “chi” in Chinese philosophy or “prana” in Indian traditions.

I ordered my African Ancestry DNA testing kit! It’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for a couple of years now, and I finally did it. I am SO excited!!

But now, impatience is setting in… LOL

I just ordered the dang thing this morning, but I want it NOW!
And once I get it and send it off, I want the results INSTANTLY!

But I also know that good things come to all who wait…

And since I have no other choice but to wait, I guess good things will come to me. So, I’m waiting. Five - eight days for delivery + 30 or more days for results. In the end it will be WELL worth it!

But for real y’all - it’s going to be a tough 4 - 6 week wait. But hey - I haven’t known for the last almost 59 years, so what’s another 6 weeks?

What I want to say to anyone who hasn’t yet done this - DO IT! Find your roots. Find out all you can about Who You Be. And once you find out, delve into that part of Y-O-U. Our Ancestors gave their lives so we can BE. Now it’s our time to honor their gift and know who we really are.

Long ago, on the Cape Coast of Ghana and other Afrikan lands, murderous men landed to steal goods that could be traded for riches. One of those “goods” was humans - the Afrikan people who inhabited the land. My Ancestors…

These men ravaged the land and the people. They raped and murder men, women, and children in their quest for gold. They demonized the Afrikans, calling them savages, and creating a story that they were less than human. Lives far less valuable then themselves and their white population. They feared the Afrikan peoples’ strength and stature, but they had the upper hand. They came with weapons of mass destruction - guns, canons, shackles, and chains.

Roughly 400 years later, this heinous practice was put to an end (supposedly). The problem? They never returned the Selkie Skins to their rightful owners or land.

To add insult to injury, the descendants of these treacherous slave traders are attempting to erase the history of the Afrikan people who fell victim to the Transatlantic Slave Trade. They are trying to make like it never happened. As if they never landed on the continent of Afrika nor murdered, raped, and pillaged the villages of people that had long been established there.

“We will simply rewrite the stories so they do not reveal the heinous acts our ancestors committed. No one will ever believe these Black people, for we have made them our common enemy. They are savages and our people will be afraid of them.”

As time went on, they implemented their plan. It is still in play today, carried out by the banning of books on the subject and the reduction of information on the slave trade to one single page in children’s history textbooks - or less.

Meanwhile, the descendants of the kidnapped Afrikan people have been weeping for they do not know where their True Home is. There isn’t much information available to them to research their lineage. It has effectively been wiped out. Irreparably broken, leaving the men and women of the Afrikan Diaspora lost. Disconnected from their roots and ever searching for Home.

For 57 years I toiled and struggled in a land where I am not accepted. Amerikkka. A place where I am marginalized and oppressed. For nearly 6 decades, I searched for my Ancestors’ Selkie Skin so that I could return it to their Homeland. So I could reconnect, root, and know the lands from which I hail. I wanted to know my past history, origin, and culture. I wanted to be rooted. Marcus Garvey said it best:

Finally, in 2024, just 5 months before my 58th solar return, I realized that I was the Selkie Skin of my Ancestors that I had been searching for. And so I made my way back Home. To my land of origin. And I was able to return my Ancestors’ Selkie Skin to the land of their True Home through my DNA, for my DNA is their DNA.

This year (2025), I returned once again to my True Home, bringing yet more of my Ancestors’ Selkie Skin with me through leaving my imprint - my DNA - on the land. And in doing so, I have reclaimed my own Selkie Skin. I am now able once again to return to my True Home at will. Now I keep my Selkie Skin safe and secure while I am standing bare on the land where I am not truly welcome (well - as safe and secure as possible).

Soon, my children will return Home with me. In doing so, they will continue to return our Ancestors’ Selkie Skin to their land. And at the same time, they will realize their own Reclamation of Their Selkie Skin. Ashe’ Oooooo.

My instincts tell me to allow the Muse’s guidance, for my Muse is the Ancestors personified. I am

Now the connection is clear and I am honored to pay homage to the people who paved the way for me to BE and be free. But it wasn’t an easy transition for me. Years of hearing ancestral veneration called “worshipping your ancestors” - a practice that was deemed blasphemous - hindered me from fully embracing this practice.

I don’t know about you, but there is a clear and distinct difference between ‘worshipping’ and ‘honoring’ something…

What would it serve ME to go dark? MY life would be altered. My BEING would suffer. And that’s not a choice that I will make for my life.

Just a little while ago, we ushered in a New Moon - one which is also highlighted by a solar eclipse. This is powerful energy! Especially during this cycle of renewal.

Our Ancestors lived by the cycles of the moon. And in doing so, they believed that New Moons signaled renewal. A time to call in what they wanted to manifest in the cycle between the New and Full Moons. I believe the same…

Not only because this was passed down by my Ancestors, but because I have been blessed to see my dreams manifested when I too call them in during a New Moon cycle. One recent example of this manifestation is the beautiful, new-to-me 1,440 square foot space that I secured for Wysdom Arts this past August.

I stumbled upon the advertisement for the space on July 30th - at the end of the previous Full Moon cycle. When I went to view the property, I fell in love. It is an amazing space! Complete with a loft where I can have my private studio, a large space for the gallery on the lower level, and a “mezzanine” level that serves as a break room. After seeing the space, I knew I had to have it.

So, I energetically released the 600 square foot space that I was occupying at the time, and on August 4th I made application to lease the new space. That same day, I received notice that my application was approved. I don’t believe it was coincidence that August 4th also happened to be the New Moon. Nor did I arbitrarily apply on that date. I knew it was the New Moon and I chose that date to apply, even though I viewed the property 5 days earlier.

I purposely waited for the New Moon to manifest my dreams and make them my reality.

Lo and behold, what I called in on that August New Moon came to fruition. My listening to and heeding the wisdom of the Ancestors allowed me to manifest the space of my dreams for Wysdom Arts. Effectively, I took my 600 square foot gallery and studio through a renewal and came out of the process on the other side with an additional 840 square feet. I am a believer!

So I ask you: What are you calling in on this October New Moon, the month of the Ancestors?

You don’t have to take my word for it. Nor the practices of the Ancestors. Try it for yourself. Be outrageously focused on ‘the one thing’ that you want to manifest during this New Moon. Take advantage of the boost that is present through the solar eclipse. What will it hurt if you give it a try? The worst that could happen is that what you call in does not manifest.

Or is it that it doesn’t manifest in the way you pictured it?

A word of advice: What is not for you will not come to you. Your desires may manifest in a way that you don’t immediately recognize. You may call in “X” and receive “Z” instead. But best believe that “Z” is the form of “X” that is best suited for your life. Be present and be aware. Your cup will be filled, but possibly with a version of the beverage you imagined rather than it being poured straight with no chaser…
